Privacy Policy

Dose is a place to taste espresso honestly and share it. We collect only what the app needs to work, we don’t run ads, and we never sell your data. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the control you have over it.
What we collect
- Your account. An email address, or an Apple ID token if you use Sign in with Apple (we support Apple’s private relay email). We never see your Apple password.
- Your profile. The username, name, photo, bio, city, and equipment you choose to add.
- Your tastings and posts. Photos, scores, notes, flavor marks, the café or roaster you tag, comments, likes, follows, and stories you create.
- Messages. Direct messages — text, photos, and voice notes — are private between you and the people you send them to.
- Location. Only when you grant it, and only to find cafés near you and tag a tasting’s venue. Dose does not track your location in the background.
- Device basics. A push token (only if you enable notifications) and basic app and device information needed to run the service.
- Product analytics. First-party, self-hosted events — like opening the app or posting a tasting — used to understand and improve the app. No third-party advertising or tracking SDKs are embedded in Dose.
How we use it
To run the app: show your tastings, deliver notifications you’ve enabled, surface cafés near you, keep the community safe, and make the product better. That’s the whole list.
What’s public and what isn’t
Your profile, tastings, comments, likes, and follows are visible to other people in the app and may be publicly viewable. Direct messages are shared only with the people you send them to. You decide what you post.
Who we share it with
We don’t sell your data and we don’t share it for advertising. We rely on a small number of service providers to run Dose:
- Supabase — hosts our database, authentication, and photo/audio storage.
- Apple — delivers push notifications (APNs) and provides Sign in with Apple.
We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of the community.
Storage and security
Your data is stored with our hosting provider and transmitted over encrypted connections. We take reasonable measures to protect it, though no method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure.
Your choices and rights
- Edit or delete your profile and any tasting, comment, or post at any time.
- Delete your account in Settings → Account. This removes your account and the content associated with it.
- Control location and notification permissions in iOS Settings.
- Block or report other users from anywhere their content appears.
- Request a copy of your data, or ask a question about it, by emailing hello@dose.city.
Children
Dose isn’t directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If we update this policy, we’ll revise the date above. Material changes will be noted in the app.
