Every bottle of wine has a score. No shot of espresso ever has. Dose gives every espresso a score with a cause behind it — eight weighted attributes, an extraction verdict, and a community of tasters and working baristas who sign their pulls.
The story
Coffee is judged by people who can taste it and rated by everyone else out of five stars. Dose closes that gap. It walks you through the same dimensions a specialty cupper checks — crema, aroma, flavor, acidity, sweetness, body, balance, finish — and resolves your marks, weighted so flavor counts for more than crema, into one calibrated number that reads the same in Detroit as it does in Rome. Cafés earn audited house scores. Baristas are credited by name for the shots they pull, a résumé written one extraction at a time.
It is built on the current platform rather than retrofitted onto it: point the camera at a coffee bag and an on-device Foundation Models pass reads roaster, origin, process and variety into a structured entry — grounded so it can only report what the bag prints, never inventing a tasting note or a score. The shot timer lives in the Dynamic Island. Siri knows the names of cafés and roasters. A tasting profile plays as an Audio Graph, so a VoiceOver user hears the shape of a shot rather than being read a list of numbers.

Every shot lands on the same scale. 92–100 world-class · 86–91 outstanding · 80–85 specialty · 72–79 solid · 60–71 drinkable · 0–59 off. A 93 means something. So does a 74.

The tasting profile is exposed as an Audio Graph, so VoiceOver plays the flavour shape as pitch. Reduce Motion is honoured throughout. Apple’s own runtime accessibility audit is wired across every core screen and its findings are reviewed each release.
